Starting with an MVP Website - The Evolution of muso.sk
muso.sk Blog goes public after a long time with a fresh approach and new tools. Learn about the migration from Gatsby to Astro, and how the journey continues.
muso.sk: A New Chapter Begins
Hey everyone! It’s been quite a journey, and after two years without updating my portfolio, I’m excited to finally relaunch muso.sk with a fresh vision. When I first started this project, it was meant to be simple, just showcasing the services I offer, but as time passed, the need for a bigger, more scalable platform became obvious. This blog post marks the beginning of that transformation.
The Original Goal: MVP Website
When muso.sk first launched, my goal was simple: get a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) online. I needed something functional, clean, and fast—a site that would allow me to share useful insights with clients and tech enthusiasts while also acting as a portfolio for my freelance services.
Back in 2016, I was juggling multiple projects across different fields, from website development and Linux server customizations to setting up gaming servers and IT consulting. muso.sk started as my digital hub for these services, but over time, I realized I needed to do more than just maintain a portfolio.
What muso.sk Stands For
So, what does muso.sk really represent? It’s more than just a website; it’s the culmination of my years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, IT System Engineer, and Open Source Contributor. As muso.sk grew, so did the reach from Slovakia, Czechia, and Thailand expand across the World. Over the years, I’ve been involved in:
- Website Development – Custom sites using React, WordPress, and more.
- Operating System Customizations – From Windows post-install tweaks to custom Linux builds.
- Software & Hardware Debugging – Identifying and fixing issues efficiently.
- IT Consultations – Offering advice and strategy for businesses and eSports teams.
- Linux Server Modifications – Optimizing and securing high-performance Linux environments.
- Gaming Dedicated Servers – Building and managing top-tier Counter-Strike and voice servers.
- Cryptocurrency Integrations – Enabling crypto payments and mining solutions.
- Android Customization & Repair – Modding and troubleshooting for Android devices.
The Big Shift: Migrating from Gatsby to Astro
Fast forward to today, and muso.sk is no longer just an MVP—it’s a constantly evolving platform. One of the biggest changes I’ve made recently is migrating from Gatsby to Astro. For those not familiar, Gatsby is a powerful framework built on React, which I originally used to create muso.sk. While it served me well for a long time, I began to feel some limitations in terms of performance and flexibility, especially when scaling content.
That’s when I started looking into Astro—a modern, content-focused web framework optimized for speed and performance. Here’s why I made the switch:
Why Astro?
- Better Performance: Astro’s focus on delivering only the essential JavaScript needed for the page results in faster load times. This is crucial for SEO and user experience, both of which are big priorities for me.
- Optimized for Content: Unlike Gatsby, Astro is designed specifically for content-heavy sites like blogs and documentation. Its component-based approach makes managing articles, code snippets, and even MDX files (Markdown with JSX) a breeze.
- Seamless Integration: With Astro, I can still use React components where needed, but without the overhead of loading the entire React library. This hybrid approach gives me the best of both worlds—React’s flexibility and Astro’s speed.
By migrating to Astro, I’ve streamlined not just the front-end experience, but also the workflow for future projects. Expect more frequent updates, faster page loads, and an overall smoother experience when browsing muso.sk.
What Changed in muso.sk
- SEO Optimization: By switching to Astro, I’ve implemented better SEO practices, focusing on Core Web Vitals to improve rankings and visibility.
- Faster Load Times: One of the key benefits of moving to Astro is the improved page speed, especially for mobile users. This is crucial for visitors from regions with slower internet connections.
- Cleaner Codebase: Astro’s architecture allows for a cleaner, more modular codebase, making future updates easier and more efficient.
What’s Next for muso.sk?
Now that the migration is complete, I’m looking forward to rolling out more features and tools in the coming months. Some of the exciting projects I’m working on include:
- Custom Web Tools: Tools that will improve workflow between collaborators.
- Advanced Tutorials: I’ll be diving deeper into topics like modern web coding, automation with AI, and custom OS development.
- Client Resources: More resources and documentation for my clients, helping them stay informed and engaged with ongoing projects.
Final Thoughts
The relaunch of muso.sk is more than just a technical upgrade—it’s a reflection of how my journey has evolved over the years. From building MVPs to migrating to Astro, muso.sk continues to adapt and grow alongside my professional development.
